POWER WASH EDUCATION

POWER WASH EDUCATION

In this POWER WASH EDUCATION video post, you’ll from a student from SPAIN.  He flew 12 hours to learn and grow with our August 2023 hands on training event in Houston.  This is a monthly training opportunity that offers not only hands on training with equipment on the job site.  It also includes a day of classroom learning with QnA.  This is a different way of providing direct insight and information about what it’s like to be a part of my school.  Peter Harding first began his journey learning about this business through Doug Rucker’s YouTube channel.

EDUCATION ATTRACTION

There was one big attraction to Doug Rucker’s Pressure Washing School that attracting to him.  It was the idea that you could receive both training and equipment all under one roof through his school and his store.  The videos are easy to understand, and very clear.  It’s great because all of the training is directed toward those who are brand new to the industry.  Peter also enjoyed meeting and getting to know the group of guys that were also part of the August 2023 Power Wash Education school.

EQUIPMENT EDUCATION

The first day is all hands on equipment training and demonstrations.  Peter makes it clear this is invaluable because he has never even held this type of professional grade pressure washing business equipment.  He describes much of what taught as “nuggets of gold.”  The day went really quick, and for Peter, any more would have been too much to absorb.  He calls it “complete, full, and enjoyable.”  Soft washing and downstreaming with a dedicated pump is a big focus of this first day of hands on power wash education.

CLASSROOM EDUCATION

Day two takes place in the training center classroom.  The training modules include house washing, roof cleaning, concrete cleaning and property protection.  All of the training is also available to students through video access for continued reviewing and learning.  Doug will continue to be there for Peter once he is back in Spain to help him with continuing education.  Along with Peter, all of Doug’s students are encouraged to reach back out to him any time they have questions and might need additional assistance.  At 7:30 into the video, Peter also talks about how we work together to get the equipment he needs to start his business.  We are actually shipping his equipment to Spain!  Be sure and check out all the training opportunities you can take advantage of.  And remember for those who cannot make it out to Texas, we do have an online video school as well.

PRESSURE WASHER FILTER VIDEO

PRESSURE WASHER FILTER VIDEO

This PRESSURE WASHER FILTER VIDEO explains in detail installing and maintaining a very important pressure washer element.  It’s the HIGH PRESSURE INLET FILTER that is the subject of this post!  When and where are they used?  How do they work?  What do I do to maintain them?  Those are the questions this PRESSURE WASHER FILTER VIDEO answers!  Thank you for watching and be sure to ask questions in the comments section of this YouTube video!

CONNECTION WITH SURFACE CLEANER

In this PRESSURE WASHER FILTER VIDEO, I explain the various sizes they come in.  And I talk about how I connect them to my surface cleaner, as well as how easy they are to move between surface cleaners.  These high pressure filters can handle 5000 psi and about 200 degrees Fahrenheit heat.  At 2:30, you’ll see the small screen inside the filter housing that will trap or catch debris from the water flow.  It is 100 micron mesh.  Also, it is easy to take it out and clean it when necessary.  This filter helps keep surface cleaner nozzles from getting clogged with sand or debris moving in the water.  The one I use is a 3/8 size inlet.  Pay close attention to the arrow on the filter that designates the water flow direction.  Also in this PRESSURE WATER FILTER VIDEO is the reminder to use teflon tape and seal with loxeal to prevent leaking.

CONNECTION WITH TURBO NOZZLE

At 5:20 of this PRESSURE WASHER FILTER VIDEO, another size is the quarter inch.  You should utilize this size most commonly on turbo nozzles.  It can also be helpful for smaller surface cleaners.  I clearly explain in detail how this particular filter size connects to a turbo nozzle.  At 6:45, you’ll find some great insight on maintenance demonstrations of these filters in various sizes.  I provide MONTHLY TRAINING EVENTS to help pressure washing businesses expand their services and grow their business!

PRESSURE WASHER PARTS VIDEO

PRESSURE WASHER PARTS VIDEO

This PRESSURE WASHER PARTS VIDEO features a mount box for three way valves.  The Doug Rucker Store physical address is 25432 TX-494 Loop in Porter, Texas.  We are in the Humble or Kingwood area just northeast of Houston.  Please stop in and see us if you are in the Houston area!  I want to thank all of our loyal YouTube viewers and especially the one who sent me a mount box we features in this PRESSURE WASH PARTS VIDEO.

BIG DOWNSTREAM FAN

If you have known me for any length of time, you know how big a fan I am of down streaming.  We can get most houses and buildings that are moderately dirty cleaned up nicely utilizing the down stream method.  For more heavily stained surfaces and higher areas, we use the Kingslinger Soft Wash System.  For many years, I have been relying on a poly three way ball valve.  In the video, I explain why and how I use it.  It enables us to switch from bleach to water for rinsing while down streaming.  We would normally zip tie or hose clamp the three way valve to the truck or trailer.  You see this is the PRESSURE WASHER PARTS VIDEO above.

PRESSURE WASHER MOUNT BOX

A long time viewer and customer of ours named Ricky recently sent me a mount box.  We are able to place the three way valve inside this box that also has mounting screw holes.  This keeps the three way ball valve braced and makes it easier to turn the valve when necessary.  At 4:45 of this PRESSURE WASHER PARTS VIDEO, I go over the plumbing.  And how the three way valve connects to various sources.  We also discuss how it incorporates into our Flow Pro Remote Bypass System with our downstream injector.

FLOAT VALVE VIDEO

FLOAT VALVE VIDEO

This FLOAT VALVE VIDEO features me sharing from years of experience testing various water tank float valve devices.  As I am building another custom truck order, this is a great time to address concerns that arise with float valves.   Thanks so much for watching and be sure to leave a comment with any questions you might have. about this FLOAT VALVE VIDEO.

HUDSON FLOAT VALVE

The most common one that I have used for the last twenty plus years is the Hudson Float Valve.  But this particular model can be very temperamental and would sometimes fail to be effective.  When this happens, you see water shooting out from the breather tube on the tank.  So over a year ago, I did some research to find a better alternative because of the frustration I experience using the Hudson model.  This is when I began using and testing JOBE brand float valves.

JOBE FLOAT VALVE

There are a couple of different models by Jobe and one of them has a string.  But my preference is the one without the string which utilizes an arm rather than string.  This particular model allows more water flow into your tank which results in filling the tank much faster.  It is the Topaz Model and it is much easier to install and more hassle free to use.  The General Pump Float valve is another popular brand and model that a viewer recently brought to my attention.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

At the 5:00 mark of this FLOAT VALVE VIDEO, I provide extensive installation instructions.  In addition to the tools you will need, there are also other parts that you need.  Installation instructions are given for the Hudson, then the Jobe, then the General Pump.  Drilling holes and installing bulkhead fittings are also part of the demonstrations in the FLOAT VALVE VIDEO.  I hope this helps and I’d like to invite you out to Houston for my next monthly school.  This two day event includes classroom instruction and actual hands on training at a job site.

Pressure Washing Startup Video

PRESSURE WASHING STARTUP VIDEO

In this PRESURE WASHING START UP VIDEO, I cover the equipment you need.  While our physical location is in the Houston, Texas region, we proudly serve all 50 states through my online school and store.  Not only do I show you the equipment you will need, I also demonstrate it in use outside.  My passion is helping new startups build their business!  So thanks for checking out my PRESSURE WASHING STARTUP VIDEO.

PRESSURE WASHER MACHINE

I recommend starting your business with the Kohler 4 GPM pressure washer.  It is a B.E. with Kohler engine and when money is lean and the budget is tight, this is a great way to start!  If you do have any questions about this machine or any of the equipment in this PRESSURE WASHING STARTUP VIDEO, be sure ask it in the comments section.  I always reply personally and try to respond to questions in comments in a timely manner.  This is professional grade machine that will assist cleaning houses and even small commercial buildings.

SURFACE CLEANER

The Whisper Wash Ultra Clean surface cleaner is another highly recommended attachment for your power wash business.  I change the nozzles due to the strong power resulting in the machine lifting or rising up from the surface.  I don’t really like this so the nozzles I use prevents this from occurring on the job.  It’s light weight, versatile, and easy to maneuver on the job.

PRESSURE WASH GUN

You definitely need the pressure wash gun assembly with the Suttner safety orange easy pull trigger.  At the 7:00 time stamp, I demonstrate how this gun can works when down streaming.  You can also use it with various nozzles that enable rinsing as well as reaching higher surface areas.  This is when a J ROD kit is extremely handy.  Be sure and watch the entire video to take advantage of all the tips and tricks.  I sure hope this PRESSURE WASHING STARTUP VIDEO helps you build your new business.  Don’t hesitate to reach out if I can help in any way!

POWER WASHING BUSINESS TOOLS

POWER WASHING BUSINESS TOOLS

In this POWER WASHING BUSINESS TOOLS video, I am working on a trailer build.  This trailer rig is for a local customer out of Cleveland, Texas.  But we provide truck, trailer and van builds for customers from all over the U.S.  In fact, a customer from Atlanta, Georgia will picking up his service body truck very soon.  So this is a great time as I finish these builds to provide more details on some of the tools I use.  Be sure and leave a comment with any questions you might have about this POWER WASHING BUSINESS TOOLS video.

JROD NOZZLE TOOLS

There are seven different JROD NOZZLE OPTIONS to choose from on my store website.  In this particular truck build order, he is getting the KINGSLINGER nozzle option.  I always advise purchasing two so that you have a spare if one of them fails or gets lost or damaged for some reason.  We also include a 3 JROD NOZZLE HOLDER for the pressure washer.  I give ample details for when and how these various nozzles are used on the job as well as installed on the rig.  Also, for many of these tools, you have the option of ready to use or DIY.  For DIY items, you can save a little money and assemble parts yourself.  My preference was always to have tools arrive ready to use to save time.  But as I explain in this POWER WASHING BUSINESS TOOLS video, you select the option on the website you prefer.

DOWNSTREAM INJECTOR CHECK VALVE

He already has one but is getting two more as back ups.  Pay close attention to the arrows making sure they point toward the gun.  We always operate with a basic principle in mind.  The plug points the way the water flows.  Another important aspect I emphasize in this video is using thread tape and loxseal to prevent leaking.  You might also enjoy checking out “Doug’s Link Deals” with various items I use that might be helpful in your business as well.

OTHER POWER WASHING TOOLS

Rounding out the list of helpful Power Washing Business Tools in this video includes an adjustable wand and ball valve setup.  I also cover the pressure wash gun assembly.

POWER WASHER HOSE REEL

POWER WASHER HOSE REEL

At the Doug Rucker Store, POWER WASHER HOSE REEL sales have been skyrocketing lately.  This is because we have several to choose from and always provide product details through videos.  The brands we carry include Hannay, Kings, Valley Industries, Steel Eagle, General Pump and Titan.  There are slight variations among them with things like the swivel, the manifold, and a few other minor elements.  But for the most part, they are all very similar.

SWIVEL AND MANIFOLD

The swivel is that part that hooks up to your whip hose and leads to your pressure washer or dedicated pump.  The water or mix flows into the reel through this swivel hose connection.  Usually, the swivel is always stainless steel.  Sometimes you’ll see a grease fitting on the swivel.  After the swivel, the fluid then flows into the manifold.  The manifold is on the inside of the reel.  Then it flows into the hose connected to the reel.  On the Hannay reel in this video, the manifold is not stainless steel.  When using 30%-50% mixes, it is better to have a stainless steel manifold because it increases longevity.  However, with such high concentrations of bleach, the manifold will always fail regardless of its composition.  Leaks will begin to appear from inside the hub of the reel.

CONVERT REEL TO STORAGE

A great use for reels once they fail is to simply store extra or spare hose on them.  To do so, make sure you order hex bushings from the Doug Rucker Store website.  You install this reducing bushing with thread lock and lock sealer.  At approximately 6:30 in the video, I demonstrate a couple of different ways to set up the reel for storage purposes.  I also explain why I use quick connect fittings and how they make things much easier on the job.  Another hose reel I talk about at 15:20 is the hard core or Valley Industries hose reel.  This reel is great for soft washing with high mix concentrations because there is not manifold inside the reel.

POWER WASH HELP QnA VIDEO

POWER WASH HELP QnA VIDEO

This POWER WASH HELP QnA VIDEO is the third in a series of QnA videos.  We have been getting great feedback from students in my school and from loyal YouTube channel viewers.  We always appreciate the question you ask because we know others are asking the same thing!  Thanks for checking out my third POWER WASH HELP QnA VIDEO and please feel free to leave a comment or ask a question in the comments section.

POWER WASH HOSE REEL QUESTION

The first question comes from a Doug Rucker Store customer who came to our Porter, Texas location to purchase a hose reel.  He asks “Of the various hose reel brands that you sell on your website, which is best for soft washing?”  He is looking for a reel that isn’t a “rust bucket” since 50/50 is a hot mix.  This is an excellent  POWER WASH HELP QnA VIDEO to start us off with.  The important thing to remember is make sure you get a hose reel with a stainless steel manifold.  However, this strong 50/50 mix will deteriorate any manifold regardless of the composition.  When this happens, it’s very common to simply use the reel for hose storage.  You can get it repaired, but most of the time, we just replace the hose reel.  My preference has always been the Valley Industries hose reel because this model does not have a manifold.  I discuss at length some of the different brands we sell and the variables for each one.

HORSEPOWER PUMP QUESTION

This next question is about what horsepower I recommend for 12 volt pump when soft washing three story high buildings.  We sell Remco and Ever Flow bleach pumps but my preference is the Remco brand.  I have been testing this brand on our commercial truck for several months.  The key is to make sure you have bigger hose
